Ain't Love Grand

It seems like everyone I know is celebrating wedding anniversaries over the next few weeks and it struck me how different I wanted to make each couple's cards. I recently blogged a very modern anniversary card, but I've gone down a traditional route for this next one.

I decided to use a sketch from The Sweet Stop, as part of their SSS155 sketch challenge. I chose to work with this sketch, SSS120, as I felt it would really suit the stamp I chose to work with.

The stamp is from a retired Stampin' Up! set called Summer by the Sea. I love the sketched look it has and I chose to colour it using water based wax pastels. Here's a look at it before and after painting...

I've used patterned papers from Stampin' Up! and Sassafras (Indie Girl) along with poly stitched ribbon in Poppy Parade from SU. The butterflies were made using the Beautiful Wings Embosslit from SU. The base card is So Saffron (SU) and is an easel card with a message inside. The sentiment is from the retired SU set Cheer and Wishes, which I've cut out using the Modern Label punch.

An anniversary wish

A very quick post (blogging in bed while gorgeous hubby looks after little 'un!) to show the card I made for my Sister's Wedding Anniversary.

I chose the Wisteria Wonder cardstock from Stampin' Up! as I knew my Sister would love it. The central image is from the new set 'You Are Loved', which is adorable, and I've added a strip of white satin ribbon and a bow made from SU's ruffled ribbon. The background is embossed using an embossing folder from my stash and my trusty Big Shot.

The sentiment is also from SU (I forget which set) and I've cut it out and embellished it using the Modern Label punch.

Happy 70th Birthday Dad!

Life has been very busy lately and my crafting time has been limited to necessities only, like the cards I made for my Dad's 70th Birthday (one from me & Rich and one from Phoebe).

I knew I wanted to put a funny Lion on my card as my Dad loves silly animals and is a Leo. Looking at my stamps, I realised I could use the leaf in the 'French Foliage' stamp set to make the Lion's mane. I set about stamping lots and lots of leaves in Cajun Craze onto Daffodil Delight cardstock. I cut each leaf out and assembled the Lion. The face is made using the scallop circle punch and the extra large oval punch. His body and legs are made using the decorative label punch and modern label punch. I've added his features and claws with the Basic Black marker and given him a shiny wet nose using Crystal Effects.

The main card is made using Riding Hood Red, Early Espresso and Pumpkin Pie cardstock. The sentiment is from 'Perfect Punches' and fits the XL Oval punch perfectly. I love that stamp set, it has sentiments that cover so many occasions and they all co-ordinate with Stampin' Up! punches too.

My Daughter, Phoebe, was keen to make her own card for Grandad and so we set about the very messy task. Phoebe is what you might call a 'hands on' crafter...

She made a great job of creating lots of different coloured papers for me to work with and a super handprint to use as a main image. I think I have a future Demo on my hands ;) Needless to say 'Grandad' absolutely loved the card and was in stitches at the photos and video of Phoebe creating it.
